Council and public services
Central London around Trafalgar Square is in the City of Westminster. Westminster City Council looks after bins and recycling, council tax, parking, planning, libraries and housing. The Greater London Authority, led by the Mayor of London, runs Transport for London and sets London-wide plans.
- Westminster City Council: council services, parking and leisure, libraries and community.
- London City Hall: the Mayor of London and the London Assembly.
- Find your MP: UK Parliament's search by postcode.
Not sure where to start? A missed bin collection, a pothole on a local street or a parking question goes to Westminster City Council; the Tube and the buses are Transport for London's.
Parks and open spaces
- St James's Park, run by the Royal Parks, is a short walk from Trafalgar Square down the Mall.
Voluntary and community groups
- One Westminster: support for charities and community groups in Westminster, and volunteering opportunities.
